About Charles Slucki

In the late 1980s / early 1990 Saltpillar ran a playwriting award called The Samuel Weisberg Award. The Award assists with the furtherance of Saltpillar's purposes of fostering performing arts talent within the Jewish community and for the benefit of the Jewish and broader communities by showcasing elements of Jewish arts, traditions and culture.

We are now relaunching the award and renaming it in memory of our friend,

Charles Slucki.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The purpose of this award is to encourage and discover new theatrical works with the ultimate aim of producing them. Saltpillar emphasises that the judging process does not conclude that submitted works are good or bad, but rather to what extent they adhere to the award criteria, which are seen as the most likely determinant for suitability for production.
